Project Goal:
Create a two-page ad spread for a chosen product using typography, original photography, and the principles of illustration to design an engaging advertisement that captures shoppers’ attention and drives them to purchase.
Process:
Through extensive research, I landed on Mott’s Clamato—a Canadian classic known for its unusual blend of clam and tomato juice. The original packaging features a splash of juice and a Caesar cocktail, which inspired me to dive into the wonderfully bizarre world of extreme Caesars. For this ad, I illustrated a mermaid tomato wearing a clamshell bra, proudly showing off her assets, surrounded by the ultimate Caesar garnishes: a full roast chicken, a slider, pickle skewers, and a juicy lime wedge. The tagline, “No Right Way to Caesar,” reinforces the playful absurdity of the scene, inviting viewers to embrace creativity and craft their own over-the-top version of the drink.
Reflections:
This project allowed me to blend vintage-style illustration with rich textures, effectively capturing the quirky essence of the ad. The tagline draws in the audience, while the composition flows smoothly across both pages, leading naturally to the call to action.
